150-year Anniversary

Young talents from all over the world are invited to participate in the Sergei Rachmaninoff International Youth Piano Competition and Glissando Programs.

The Competition, Glissando Programs and the Award Ceremony will take place at Kawai Piano Gallery.

The application deadline is December 31, 2022.

  • Category A: 11 years old and younger

  • Category B: 12-15 years old​​

  • Category C: 16-20 years old


  • LIve Auditions at Recital Hall of Kawai Piano Gallery Houston

  • Competitors will perform on a 9 feet Shigeru Kawai Concert Grand Piano


  • Application Deadline - December 31, 2022  

  • The Online Application Form and Application Fee must be submitted simultaneously

  • Incomplete applications will not be considered

  • The Award Ceremony will take place at Kawai Piano Gallery Houston on January 15, 2023. The awards, certificates and cash prizes will ONLY be distributed IN PERSON. No postal or online prize or certificate deliveries will be arranged

  • All compositions must be performed by memory during all the rounds. 

  • The posted time limit should be taken into consideration by the applicants when selecting the repertoire. The applicants whose live performance exceeds the posted time limit by more than 2 minutes will be stopped

  • No simplified or shortened versions of any compositions are allowed

  • All the decisions of the adjudicators are FINAL

  • Jury reserves the right to:​

    • not to award any of the prizes

    • to split a prize between several contestants

    • to stop any performance which exceeds posted time limits or does not meet professional standards

    • to disqualify any candidate who does not comply with any of Competition’s regulations, norms of social behavior, State of Texas and Federal Laws of the United States


In 2023 the world celebrates the 150-year anniversary of Sergei Rachmaninoff - one of the greatest composers of the XX century. At least one composition by Sergei Rachmaninoff is required for Age Category C. Rachmaninoff’s composition is optional for Categories A and B.

The Organizing Committee recommends that participants in Age Categories A and B explore the musical heritage of such composers as: Tchaikovsky, Skriabin, Kabalevsky, Prokofiev, Khachaturian, Babadjanyan, Medtner, Goedike, Gnessin. Please note that this is a recommendation, not a requirement. 


Category A: Time limit - 10 minutes maximum duration

Free choice of repertoire. Minimum of two compositions of contrasting styles

Category B: Time limit - 15 minutes maximum duration 

Free choice of repertoire. Minimum of two compositions of contrasting styles

Category C: Time limit - 20 minutes maximum duration

1. At least one solo work by Sergei Rachmaninoff (including transcriptions)

2. Free choice of repertoire. Two, three or more compositions of contrasting styles

3. Virtuosic Etude by Chopin, Liszt, Scriabin, Rachmaninoff, LIgeti, Lyapunov, Prokofiev, Kapustin, Debussy




To pay tributes to Sergei Rachmaninoff. The Jury will also award a Special Prize for the best performance of a composition by Rachmaninoff

Glissando Programs:

Glissando proudly presents this prestigious master-class series with Guest Artists from around the world. Students are invited to perform in the traditional master-class setting and receive feedback from internationally recognized pianists. “Bravo, Maestro!” provides the perfect opportunity for pianists preparing for competitions, university, and scholarship auditions to receive expert advice and feedback. 


Professional piano repertoire is expected. Duration of the performance is limited to 10-15 minutes. Memorization is required.

Glissando Master-Class Certificates will be awarded. 




This program is designed to promote and showcase amateur and professional pianists who chose various career paths, but still remain passionate about the art of piano performance. Various people worldwide have joined this program as it offers a one-of-a-kind opportunity for many categories of pianists. It is an ideal platform to meet like-minded individuals, share experiences, life stories and, of course, perform and listen to each other.


The choice of the repertoire is free. Solo, concerto, and ensemble performances are welcome.


Glissando Certificates will be awarded. 


Workshop / Lecture / Recital

This workshop program is designed to motivate those students who don’t feel confident about their performance yet or are at the very early stage of their piano journey. Students will be offered performance opportunities in a pressure-free and friendly environment, with professional feedback and encouragement. There is no strict repertoire, age, level, or memorization requirements.


Upon completing this program, students will be awarded a Glissando Certificate.
