Glissando Music and Arts Foundation and St. Paul's Lutheran Church RPV are thrilled to present new concert series in Palos Verdes - the gorgeous pinnacle of California's South Bay. Located on Palos Verdes Drive, right of scenic Point Vicente, with its renowned historic lighthouse, views of Catalina Island, and popular hiking trails, the venue is one of the most beautiful locations to imagine.

We are thrilled to present three celebrated international soloists: violinist David Lisker, cellist Evgeny Tonkha, and pianist Vladimir Khomyakov, collaborating together in a piano trio setting The exciting and beautiful program features a diverse mix of works by romantic and contemporary composers, including Sergei Rachmaninoff's Trio élégiaque No.1 and Astor Piazzolla's The Four Seasons of Buenos Aires, as well as compositions by David Popper, Anna Drubich, and Fritz Kreisler. Don't miss this extraordinary performance and the rare opportunity to witness these three virtuosos sharing one stage - it's a concert experience unlike any other!

Doors open at 6:30 PM. Concert starts at 7:00 PM.

All tickets sales are final and tickets are non-refundable. Sitting is on a first-come-first-serve basis - no assigned seats. Parking is free and on site. Additional parking is available in a cul-de-sac on the south side of the church - parking there is head-on; please refrain from parallel parking. ABOUT THE ARTISTS

David LISKER, violin

Protege of Itzhak Perlman, described as an “exquisite virtuoso violinist” (Chicago Sun-Times) whose “playing possesses a deeply profound musical instinct” (The Classical Network) and a “cultivated artistic taste” (Kulturas Diena, Latvia), David Lisker has appeared in many of today’s most prestigious concert halls including New York’s Carnegie Hall, Avery Fisher Hall, Alice Tully Hall, and Merkin Hall, The Mann Auditorium in Israel, The Orange County Performing Arts Center in California, The National Arts Centre in Ottawa, and The Shanghai Theatre in China.

Mr. Lisker has performed on the PBS television broadcast of “Live from Lincoln Center”, was featured on Bob Sherman’s “Young Artist Showcase” on WQXR in New York, performed in Chicago’s Dame Myra Hess Recital Series live on WFMT, and was the only violinist ever to appear on David Dubal’s “Piano Matters” on WWFM Radio. He has been presented in concert at the Casa De La Musica in Ecuador, the Singer Festival in Warsaw, Poland, the St. Andrew Festival in Hungary, the Manchester Music Festival in Vermont, the JAAMM Festival in Denver, the Chicago Beethoven Festival, in the Detroit Institute of Arts’ Friday Night Live Series, with the Queretaro Philharmonic Orchestra in Mexico, and in Lima Philharmonic Society’s Concert Season in Peru. 

 

Born in Novosibirsk, Russia, Mr. Lisker immigrated to America with his parents when he was 4 years old and began studying violin at the age of 5 with his father. He continued his studies with Terrine Gomez in Champagne, Illinois, Linda Rose in Los Angeles, and Mark Zinger in Chicago. He went on to earn his Bachelor of Music degree from the Manhattan School of Music in New York where he studied with Pinchas Zukerman and Patinka Kopec, and his Master of Music degree from the Juilliard School where he studied with Itzhak Perlman.

Evgeny TONKHA, cello

Evgeny Tonkha was born in 1981 into a musical family and studied at the Gnessin Music School (class of Professor Vladimir Tonkha) 􏰀In 1998, he entered the Russian Academy of Music, classes of Professor Natalia Shakhovskaya and Professor Valentin Berlinsky. After graduating from the Russian Academy of Music, Evgeny was invited by􏰀Professor David Geringas to post-graduate studies at the Hanns Eisler Academy of Music in Berlin.

Since 2006, Evgeny has been collaborating with the Berliner Philharmoniker Orchestra. Since the age of 10, he has toured Germany, France, England, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, and the USA. Conductors he has worked with include Simon Rattle, Zubin Mehta, Claudio Abbado, Seiji Ozawa, Mariss Jansons and Daniel Barenboim. Among his achievements are the 1st Prize and the Golden Medal at the 12th International Cello Competition in the Czech Republic, the Special Jury Prize at the 13th International Tchaikovsky Competition, and prizes for the best performance of contemporary music.

He participated in many prestigious festivals including "Marlboro" festival. Evgeny teaches at MiMoDa studio. In 2014 In collaboration with Nathan Frankel he founded a new "K17"concert series in LA and was proud to represent such a world favors artists as David Geringas, Gilles Apap, Giovanni Sollima, and many others.

Vladimir KHOMYAKOV, piano

Vladimir Khomyakov is praised by audiences and critics around the world for the virtuosity, charismatic artistry, and emotional intensity of his playing, Perpetuating the heritage of European and American piano schools, he uniquely combines the traditions with the individuality of a sensitive and passionate artist. He concertizes in Europe, Asia, North and Latin America as a pianist, conductor, chamber musician, and soloist with the world’s leading symphony orchestras. By the temperament of his playing, the pianist gravitates towards a large-scale romantic and post-romantic repertoire - his performances of works by Schumann, Chopin, Liszt, Rachmaninov, Prokofiev are distinguished by power, eloquence, and extreme emotionality, while maintaining the classical stylistic canons. His captivating stage presence, imagination and intelligence of his interpretations greatly resonate with the listener and bear witness to a unique talent.

 

He is a top prizewinner of numerous prestigious international competitions, including St. Petersburg Open Piano Competition (Russia), Anton Rubinstein International PIano Competition (Dresden, Germany), Emil Gilels International PIano Competition (Odessa, Ukraine), Maria Canals (Barcelona, Spain), Jose Iturbi International PIano Competition (Los Angeles, CA), Hilton Head International PIano Competition (Hilton Head Island, SC), Ima Hogg International Music Competition (Houston, TX), and many others.
